In October 2024, the VUWSA (Victoria University of Wellington Students' Association), which previously owned and operated the original Vic Books physical store until its closure in March 2023, decided to relinquish the vicbooks.co.nz domain name.

Steve Baron, a past student who cherished his time at Vic Books during his studies at Victoria University, saw this as a chance to preserve its legacy. Seizing the opportunity, he purchased the domain to keep the memory of Vic Books alive. As an author himself, Steve saw this as an opportunity to continue the great promotion of New Zealand authors as it worked well alongside his hobby business of website design and SEO work.

Vicbooks.co.nz remains steadfast in the goal of connecting people with the books they love and enjoy.

As we look to the future, Vicbooks.co.nz is excited to embark on this new chapter. While the orginal Vic Books physical store may be closed, Vicbooks.co.nz are excited to continue bringing you the joy of reading through our partnership with Amazon Books, ensuring that the legacy lives on.
